From daffodils and wildflowers to potatoes, peas and beetroot Mrs. Sheehy and the gardeners have been busy planting a wide variety of flowers and vegetables in the garden for the past few months. The children loved being outside in the air, getting their hands dirty and stuck into some hard work in nature! A big thank you to Mrs. Sheehy, Mr. Morowski and all those who have helped to make our garden and school grounds so beautiful.

Our Sensory Room

Our Sensory Room is a great new addition to Scoil Iósaf this year. It is a quiet space dedicated to stimulating, developing and relaxing the senses. Classrooms can be busy, noisy places. Our Sensory Room offers a calm environment for children to explore their surroundings in their own time, using all of their senses. Check out some of the interesting objects that are in our Sensory Room in the slide show on the left, including a peanut ball, a scooter board and a glitter lamp bluetooth speaker!

A big thank you to Ms. Leamy and the SET team for all of the hard work they have put into setting up our Sensory Room. Huge thanks also to the Parents Association who are constantly working on new ideas for this great space.

School Fitness Ireland

All of the children had the opportunity to try some fun fitness activities when School Fitness Ireland did a session with each class in June. Check out Ms. Howard's class in action in the photos on the left!

Term 3 2020/2021Roundup

  • Zoom drawing classes with Aidan Courtney were a huge hit. The children got to explore their artistic talents under the guidance of a professional illustrator.

  • Gaelic football sessions with Mr. Ó Tuama were very welcome back by all.

  • Interactive lessons in the woods with Artist and Stone Mason Sonia Caldwell were a great new way to explore and learn about our natural surroundings.

  • Classes partook in walking tours to the idyllic Castlmartyr Woods, stopping off for fun and games in the GAA pitch.

  • Some classes put their fitness to the test in a running challenge led by Ms. Bevan.

  • Friday Feeling - Every Friday we listened to a favourite song chosen by the children via the intercom. It got us in the spirit for the weekend! Thanks to Ms. Hunt and Mr. Morawski for organising this.

  • Refreshing Treat Tuesday - On June 22nd the children enjoyed an ice-cream from Glanmire Ices. On a beautiful, sunny day it was a most welcome surprise! It was also a day for Crazy Hair!

Well done to all the children who made their First Communion on the 1st and 2nd of October. Many thanks to the families for the flexibility shown, to Fr. Frank for holy and special ceremonies, and to all the teachers for their role in the preparation for the sacrament. A final thanks to Mr. Morawski for his camera work on both evenings:
